Take a Trip out of Victoria Harbour - in A Zodiac - to visit local residents: ORCA

On a beautiful, sunny July afternoon, we donned orange cold weather suits.

Why?
To take a zodiac trip across choppy waters to visit some special local residents.

Whale watching for  Orcinus orca (killer whales)!
These resident orcas are fish eaters – They are salmon specialists. About 80% of their diet is Chinook salmon.

The orcas that visit the waters surrounding San Juan Island are known as the Southern Resident Killer Whales.
The males like this one,
are much bigger than the females,
and have a larger and more developed dorsal fin.

Listen to the River! Russian River Adventure Canoe Trip Healdsburg, CA

Summer is a hot time in California.
What better plan than a canoe trip on the Russian River just outside of Healdsburg in Sonoma County?

Listen to the sound of the birds, the inflatable canoe squeaking along, the dip of the paddles, and the sounds of the river flowing by.

Enjoy and cool down a bit!

An easy paddle and float trip - Then head to Healdsburg Plaza Park for an outdoor concert?!

See a Whale's Tail! Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska

Dozens of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) were around us as we took a trip into the Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.

Humpbacks migrate to Alaskan waters to feed during the summer months.
